Gombe nPDP Chair Dumps Faction

Mohammed Umar Shabuki

Chairman of New PDP in Gombe State Mohammed Umar Shabuki during the weekend announced that he has returned to the mainstream PDP.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Trust in Abuja, Shabuki said his decision was as a result of the court ruling which barred the New PDP from existing as a faction.

Shabuki who is a former member of the Gombe State House of Assembly said as an ex-lawmaker, it was wrong for him to shy away from the court ruling, saying he would never allow himself to disrespect the law.

“There is a court ruling that goes against the party that we’re leading, and as a law-abiding citizen, I have to respect that ruling. Since the court said we cannot be using the name again, that is why I decided to follow the court order as a leader of that party in Gombe State,” he said.

He added that there are serious efforts at addressing the irregularities in the party which made him to join the New PDP at the beginning, maintaining that he has no reason whatsoever to continue to drag.

According to him, the Ibrahim Dankwambo-led administration in Gombe State has done a lot of projects and brought about peace which should attract everybody to support his government.

He called on other members of the New PDP to sheath their swords and come back to the mainstream PDP to move the party forward.
