6:46pm - It is all over...Nigeria has created another world record in the history of the FIFA U-17 World Cup winning the 4th time....Nigeria 3:0 Mexico

UPDATE: Reports on ground has it that the Golden Eaglets are scheduled to arrive the country tomorrow via an Emirates Airline. The flight was reserved for the team by the world football governing body, FIFA. 

On arrival, the team and staffs are expected to leave Lagos same day on an Arik Air flight to Abuja to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Sunday night. 

The meeting is scheduled to take place at a special reception that will be organised for the team in appreciation of their performance at the U-17 FIFA World Cup in UAE.

UPDATE: Scottish referee Craig Thomson along his compatriots Derek Rose and Alan Mulvanny has been picked by FIFA as officials for the FIFA U17 World Cup final at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi at 5pm Nigeria time.

UPDATE: Golden Eaglets and soccer loving Nigerians have been boosted wiht the cheering news that striker, Isaac Success will be available against Mexico coming in as a substitute. The goal machine striker has been injured having sustained a hamstring injury against Sweden in the preliminary stage that ended in a 3-3 scoreline. He has two goals to his name in the competition.

UPDATE: 

• Nigeria will seeking to be the most successful country at the U-17 level when they defeat defending champion, Mexico in today's final. 

• Going into Friday’s final against Mexico, the Golden Eaglets have played a total of 48 matches; won 43, drew 4 and only lost once;scoring a total of 218 goals and conceded just 53. 

• Nigeria won her three titles on the Asian continent; China 1985, Japan 1993 and South Korea 2007.

• Coach Garba Manu was an assistant coach to the late Yemi Tella when Nigeria conquered the world in South Korea 2007.

• Nigeria has a superb and an unbeaten run of form on the Asian continent having played a total of 26 matches; won 24, drew 2.

• Nigeria is in her seventh final appearance, won three, ended up as runner up thrice; Canada 1987, Trinidad & Tobago 2001 and Nigeria 2009.


UPDATE: "Super" Golden Eaglets play maker, Kelechi Iheanacho is up for a double as he is a front-runner for the tournament’s top scorer and MVP awards. Kelechi Iheanacho has 5 goals and 8 assists to his name.
