Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) were conspicuously absent at the Council of State meeting held on Tuesday.
Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi who has been locked in a battle with the PDP too was absent at the meeting which started at the Presidential Villa around 10.50 am.
The Council of State is made up of all former Presidents and Heads of Government, all former Chief Justices of Nigeria, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the 36 state governors and the Attorney General of the Federation.
Those in attendance included former military rulers, Generals Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar. Their civilian counterparts, Alhaji Shehu Shagari and Chief Ernest Adegunle Shonekan were also in attendance.
The Senate President, Senator David Mark, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal as well as 4 former Chief Justices of Nigeria were seen at the venue of the meeting.
