Osoba, Amosun deny crisis in Ogun APC

A former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, and the incumbent, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, have denied the reported rift between them.
In separate interviews on Wednesday, Osoba and Amosun instead preached unity among party members.
Their admonition came just as Amosun said the ruling All Progressives Congress in the  state planned to register an estimated 400,000 party members during the five-day registration exercise of the party, which started on Wednesday.
A similar exercise, being conducted by the Labour Party in Ogun State, entered its third day on Wednesday.
But Osoba, the state leader of the APC, denied the existence of any crisis in the party in the state.
Amosun began the exercise at  Ajura Ward  in Obafemi/Owode Local Government  area where he and his wife, Olufunsho, registered.
Osoba registered at his Ago-Oba, Abeokuta Ward 13.
The governor and Osoba argued that there was no formidable opposition party in the state  that  could defeat the APC in any election in the state.
Osoba assured that the party would win all elections.
“We are thinking beyond governorship seats,  the Presidency  is our aim. Our ultimate is to clear everywhere,” he said.
Explaining why he chose to register at Ajura Ward in Obafemi -Owode LG, Amosun said, ” Because my  mother hailed from this  area and when I was young, I  used to come with my  mother on foot to Ajura village.”
He warned that the party members “should avoid destroying what we have all built.”
The governor added, “The APC is the party to beat; there is no party in Ogun State that can defeat us in any election, either now or in the future.
“It is only ourselves (APC) that can defeat ourselves. We are the party to beat, so we must remain united so as not to  defeat ourselves.”
On the possibility of concluding the exercise in five days,  considering the large number of people expected to be registered , Osoba said. “It is the  national office that can determine the  need  for an extension and that would depend on the field report, so,don’t let us prejudge.
“The essence of this exercise is that we want to be democratic and  mobilise people and get our members to be involved in the elections  of all officers at all levels , either elective or officers
of the party. We want to re-enact the golden days of our great party, the Social Democratic  Party.”
Asked about the crisis that hit the party recently, Osoba tacitly said in Yoruba, “An elderly person turns issues over  and over in his mind without saying a word. That is my reaction.”
Also while participating in the registration exercise, a member of the House of  Representatives from Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency,  Adekunle Adeyemi described  the APC as a  peaceful party.
Adeyemi however urged leaders and members of the party to demonstrate sincerity and be accommodating, rather than play a do-or-die  politics.
At Ward Six Oke-Odan in Yewa South Local Government Area of the state, our correspondent observed members of the LP registering.
An LP Registration Officer, Mr. Semiu Akinyemi, said the exercise which commenced on Monday had been hitch-free, adding that necessary registration materials were provided and that over 100 members had since registered.
