24 Hour Curfew Imposed In Maiduguri Town

A curfew has been imposed in Maiduguri town, SaharaReporters has learned, following renewed Boko Haram attacks this morning in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

The state government under the leadership of Alhaji Kashim Shettima declared a 24 hour curfew in Maiduguri earlier today.

The action, according to a military source, was reached after a speedy study of a “security situation,” arising from the renewed recent attacks by the Boko Haram sect.

The attacks came against a Nigerian Army facility, the Giwa Barracks, where captured Boko Haram detainees captured are being held. The capture of these detainees came in a recent military counter terrorism operation military sources have called “successful.”
