The aspirants were disqualified for failing to provide vital documents.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, screening committee, on Monday dropped three out of sixteen candidates that submitted nomination forms to contest the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State.
The committee, headed by Senate Leader, Ndoma Egba, dropped Bode Olowoporoku, Peter Obafemi, and Bosede Cecilia Dada.
The committee while submitting its report to the deputy national chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, said Mr. Olowoporoku was disqualified for lack of up to date tax clearance certificate and proof of court judgment overruling his expulsion from the PDP in the past.
Mr. Obafemi was disqualified for his inability to submit to the committee a copy of his NYSC discharge certificate, while, Ms. Dada was disqualified for failing to present evidence of payment of membership dues, school certificate and tax clearance certificate.
Mr. Secondus commended the committee for doing a good job, even as he advised the disqualified aspirants who wish to approach the screening appeal committee headed by another Senator, Mohammad Magoro, to do so.
Some of the aspirants cleared by the committee are a former Minister of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade; former governor of the state, Ayo Fayose; Dayo Adeyeye; Dare Bejide; Gbenga Aluko; Bisi Omoyeni; Abiodun Aluko; Deji Ajayi; Bodunde Adeyanju; Wale Aribisala; Habibat Adubiaro; Ropo Ogunbolude; and Dupe Ogundipe.
The PDP primary is slated for March 15 in Ado Ekiti. Most of the candidates preferred the selection of a consensus candidate except Mr. Fayose who insisted that the primary must hold.
