A total of 5,025 new lawyers were on Thursday called to the Nigerian Bar.
Speaking at the event, which held in Abuja, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mariam Muhktar, called on the new lawyers to maintain absolute decorum in carrying out their duties as ministers in the temple of justice.
The CJN reminded the new wigs that they had an obligation to assist the court in the administration of justice.
Justice Mukhtar urged the new lawyers to be punctual in all court appearances.
She told them to always obtain the leave of the court whenever they would not be able to attend sittings.
The CJN instructed the new lawyers on the code of conduct of the legal profession.
“A legal practitioner should always be attired in a proper and dignified manner and abstain from any apparel or ornament calculated to attract attention. Every legal practitioner should treat the judge and magistrate with utmost courtesy,” she said.
