Bauchi PDP denies endorsing Jonathan

CONTRARY to insinuations making the rounds that the Bauchi State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has endorsed the candidature of President Goodluck Jonathan for 2015, a senatorial aspirant on the party’s platform, Alhaji Musa Sikeli, said, yesterday, that nobody has been endorsed by the party. He described the rumour as “mere imaginations of sycophants bent on deceiving President Jonathan.”
Speaking through his media consultant, Sanusi Muhammad, Sikeli said the state PDP has not announced its position on the 2015 presidency as mischievously claimed by politicians in the state.
He said the PDP was yet to lift campaigns for the 2015 elections, pointing out that anybody making such statement was causing grievous harm to the electoral system which could eventually lead to serious confusion for the party at all levels.
His words, “the leadership of the PDP should serve as an umbrella to its members by treating them as equals if it desires to remain relevant in the polity. Governor Yuguda as leader of the party in the state has not shown open support to any presidential aspirant for now, therefore, for the party machinery to be quoted as saying it has endorsed the candidature of President Jonathan signifies the existence of a hidden agenda of imposition that may cause anti-party activities against the party in 2015.
“While the opposition APC is struggling to put its house in order, the PDP is busy destroying its own structures through dictatorial tendencies for selfish interests. PDP is already enmeshed in crisis that has defied solutions.
