Hon Dino Melaye |
The executive secretary of Anti-Corruption Network and former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Dino Melaye has said that he would continue with his anti-corruption crusade in the National Assembly in 2015 if he was elected senator to represent Kogi West Senatorial District.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP yesterday, fiery anti-corruption activist said that he was ready to represent his senatorial district come 2015 and that he had already concluded consultations with stakeholders in that respect.
He said, “My plan for 2015 is that by the grace of God I will be running for the senate. My posters are already out. I have almost rounded off my consultations. And by the grace of God I am going to run to win to represent Kogi West Senatorial District in 2015”.
Melaye who revealed that he would be in the senatorial race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC), advised the senate president, Senator David Mark against declaring vacant the seats of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators that decide to defect to the APC. He insists that the crises in PDP have met all the constitutional requirement for anyone elected on the platform of the PDP to defect to any party of his choice adding that PDP is a sinking ship and those who desire to dump it should not be hindered from doing so.
He said, “One of the fundamental constitutional requirements for defection is if there is division in the party. My question is, is there no division in PDP? A party where some have even seceded and have even gone to court to contest which of the leadership is authentic, is that not a division? A party in which there is a court injunction that Oyinlola is the recognised national secretary of the party, yet the party refuse to recognise him as the national secretary, is that party not already in confusion and division?”
