FCT minister debunks health rumours

Dame Patience Jonathan, wife of Nigeria’s president has stepped out of Aso Rock Villa to douse recent rumours about her health.
An online news site had reported that she was flown abroad during the week for medical treatment in Germany. Even though, her media team debunked the story, the story went viral.
But Sunday evening, Mrs. Jonathan left the Villa to pay a condolence visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Sen. Bala Mohammed, over the death of his brother.
Mohammed seized the opportunity of the visit to condemn earlier media reports on Mrs. Jonathan.

“We want to dispute media reports that you are sick and rushed abroad, but here you are resplendent and beautiful. We wish to tell the ‘Judases’ that they are not God and that anybody can fall sick,’’ Bala Mohammed said.
He said that Mrs Jonathan’s support to her husband, the nation and vulnerable women was important, noting that she had a “positive impact on our lives’’.
Mohammed said that his late brother was a technocrat who lived a life worthy of emulation.
“He served as a teacher, administrator; he trained me and brought me to a level where we can relate with people of integrity and pedigree,’’ he said.
Condoling the minister earlier, the first lady said that the death of Malam Mohammed was a loss to the government and people of Bauchi State, as he was a well-respected community leader in the state.
“It is quite sad, but we can’t question God. He gives and takes, but we can pray that his soul should rest in perfect peace ,and may God raise another person to fill his gap.
“He was a humble and quiet man in whom his people had trust while he served the government of the state,” she said.
