The National Conference has proposed the composition of 20 standing committees to facilitate its assignment.
The number is one more than the number of committees set up by the 2005 National Political Reform Conference, NPRC, convened by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The defunct NPRC had 19 standing committees to cover different areas of its assignment.
The committees for the current conference are contained in a document distributed to members at its plenary session on Tuesday.
They are Derivation of Power; Political Restructuring and Forms of Government; National Security; Environment; Politics and Governance; Laws, Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Reform; Social Welfare; Transportation; Science, Technology and Development; Agriculture; Civil Society, Labour and Sports, Public Service; Electoral Matters; and Foreign Policy and Diaspora Matters.
Others are Land Tenure Matters and National Boundary; Trade and Investment; Energy; Election; Public Finance and Revenue Generation; and Immigration.
The membership of the committees would be announced on Thursday, according to the Draft Work Plan of the confab.
There are 492 delegates to the conference, all of who have been divided into 33 groups.
Although, the confab had not arrived at the manner the members of the committees would be constituted, some members canvassed during the plenary session that the exercise be undertaken by a Selection Committee to be headed by the Chairman, Idris Kutigi and his deputy, Bolaji Akinyemi.
Also, some members demanded each committee should be allowed to pick its leader.
