Court dissolves 5-yr-old marriage over wife’s ‘barking’ at husband’s parents

An Ilorin Area Court on Friday dissolved the  five-year-old marriage between one Aliyu Mukaila and his wife,  Jemilat, over the latter’s bad manners.
Aliyu, 43, a resident of Alore Area of Ilorin, had approached the court to dissolve his marriage to Jemilat, alleging that she was disrespectful to his parents and relatives.
He told the court that his wife had the habit of “barking” at his parents and relatives and was doing so to discourage them from coming to his house.
The complainant  cited instances of  Jemilat’s bad conduct before his parents, adding that the marriage, which was contracted in 2009, had not produced a child.
“My lord, I want an end to this marriage because I cannot deny my parents and relatives just because of a  woman, ” Aliyu said.
Jemilat told the court that she had no objection to her husband’s prayer to the court, saying that she was tired of  the  interference of her in-laws  in her marriage.
“I see no need enduring in an unproductive marriage  and I am fed up with external involvement in my private life,” she said.
Jemilat urged the court to grant the prayer of her husband without any claim.
The judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to Aliyu. (NAN)
