Adams Oshiomhole: ordered the arrest of the touts

No fewer than fifteen persons, including Edo state commissioner for youths and sports, Chris Okaebean, a policeman, a woman, children were injured in fracas at different wards during the rescheduled ward congress in Edo south senatorial district of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Adams Oshiomhole was reported to have ordered the arrest of three persons allegedly caught with arms, ammunition and fake APC membership cards at George Idah Memorial Primary School in GRA.
The fracas occurred at Oredo wards 4 and 7, in the premises of Emokpae and Payne Primary schools located along Mission Road and Upper Mission respectively.

Two of the injured persons were inflicted with deep machete cuts on their heads.
The commissioner who confirmed the incident to journalists, said he was attacked at ward 7 by angry youths who also vandalized his vehicle. He said the hoodlums out of frustration of losing the election, attacked him and others, vandalizing several vehicles in the process.
The matter has been reported to the New Benin divisional police headquarters.
About 25 vehicles were destroyed at wards (4 and 7); borehole and other properties were destroyed at Nevis and Idahosa streets, off Mission road.
A police source disclosed that two persons have been arrested in connection with the incident and taken to the state police command headquarters.
Trouble began when thugs suspected to be loyal to one of the APC governorship aspirants, stormed the venue and disrupted the exercise. The thugs attacked the supporters of the other aspirant in the process.
The hoodlums who were chased out by the supporters of the other aspirant, went haywire, unleashing mayhem on the people on the streets.
A borehole constructed as one of the constituency projects by Patrick Osayimwen, a lawmaker representing Oredo East in the state house of assembly located in Nevis Street was vandalized by the rampaging hoodlums.
Uhunmwangho Asonmworiri, a lecturer at Edo State owned Institute of Continuing Education (ICE), Benin City, said his Toyota Camry was destroyed in front of his home.
Asonmworiri who is not a member of any political party, wondered why they left the venue of the congress to damage his car, and those of other residents as well as inflicting various degrees of injuries on the innocent people of the streets.
The armed hoodlums arrested by Oshiomhole were said to have fired gunshots at the venue while the congress was ongoing. They have since been handed over to the police for investigation.
Meanwhile, the exercise did not hold at a ward located at Agbado primary along Akpakpava road because of non-accreditation of electorate and subsequent violence that greeted the exercise.
The exercise was however peaceful in other wards monitored at Ikpoba Okha local government area.
