It was a day of celebration in the family of President Goodluck Jonathan on April 5, 2014 as his first daughter, Faith, was given out in marriage to Godwin Edwards Osim in Othueke, Bayelsa.
President Jonathan speaking at traditional wedding ceremony urged Nigerian couples to love and endure each other to guarantee a successful marriage.
He said: “Endurance is the ingredient for marriage; for any marriage to last endurance is key.”
“It is a painful joy; my wife and I are happy and we appreciate you for witnessing the marriage of our daughter.
“People that saw me today didn’t recognise me. I am preparing to be a grandfather,” Jonathan said humorously.
The chairman of the occasion, Vice-President Namadi Sambo, advised the couple to be tolerant, friendly, and obedient to the marriage institution.
