Osoba expresses confidence in confab

Chief Segun Osoba: places hope on confab
Chief Segun Osoba

Former Governor Olusegun Osoba of Ogun State and an All Progressives Congress chieftain, has expressed confidence in the ability of the national conference to bring about a better Nigeria.
Osoba said in Abuja on Sunday after his accreditation that the calibre of the delegates to the conference gave him a lot of hopes.
The APC chieftain said that he and other delegates to the conference were determined to ensure that the gathering “makes the difference in the life of the country.
“I have great hope in this conference and I am confident that with the guidance of God, we shall make a huge difference.

“We want to tell Nigerians that we are determined to make a difference at this conference. The calibre of people who are coming to this conference gives me a lot of hopes.
“Many of the delegates are people who have pedigree; who, in one way or the other, have made their mark in their endeavours and professions.
“A lot of the delegates are committed to this country. I am confident that we shall give and take and arrive at reasonable consensus on many issues’’, he said.
The former governor said that in spite of the misgivings some sections had about the non-implementation of outcomes of previous conferences, Nigerians needed to continue talking.
He also said that a lot of issues were crying for the attention of the delegates which must be resolved so as to move the country forward.
“We should continue talking as a country; no country is totally settled. Even Asian countries still have to continue talking.
“So many issues need to be resolved at this conference: true federalism, for example, the system that we are going to be using.
“Most people are talking about parliamentary system of government. All these are examples of issues that will generate interesting discussions’’, he said.
Osoba called on Nigerians to pray for the delegates and for God’s guidance and intervention in whatever they plan to do at the conference.
He, however, challenged the leadership of the country, on whose shoulder the implementation of the outcome of the conference laid, to ensure that the views of the people were not subverted at the end of the day.
“The leaders should let God guide them and should be prepared to endorse, without controversy, whatever consensus we arrive at’’, he said
