Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has adopted Abia State governor, Theodore Orji as a replacement for Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, as chairman of South-East Governors Forum.
The adoption of Orji was contained in a statement by the National Organising Secretary of OYC, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, yesterday.
Isiguzoro hailed Orji for the airport project in Abia State and his rare courage to recall non indigenes back to the state civil service.
“Igbos are pleased with him now. He is an icon in Igbo land. He has empowered Igbo youths across all the states of the South-East. We know that with somebody like him in the saddle as chairman of South-East Governors Forum, there will be better federal presence in Igbo land. We are totally behind him” he said.
Isiguzoro also said they were happy that President Goodluck Jonathan had fully recovered from his ill-health and assured him of their unalloyed and unfettered support for his government.
He appealed to the federal government to repair the Port-Harcourt express road, Abakpa Ikot-Ekpene road and other highways in the South-East that were now death traps, to stop further loss of lives on the roads.
He said: “Igbo youths are calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to live up to expectation in the supplementary election in Anambra State. We are watching events in Anambra state. OYC is watching.”
