West Bromwich Albion sack manager Steve Clarke after defeat at Cardiff

West Brom's manager Steve Clarke during his team's 1-0 Premier League defeat against Cardiff City

• Defeat at Cardiff was the Baggies' fourth in a row
• 1-0 loss against Cardiff left West Brom 16th in the league

West Brom have sacked head coach Steve Clarke, the Barclays Premier League club have announced.
The club revealed only late last month that they planned to hold contract talks with the Scot in the new year.
However, Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Cardiff was the Baggies' fourth in a row leaving them 16th in the league.
"Things aren't happening for us at the moment," Clarke had said shortly after the loss in Cardiff. "There's no magic formula, all we can do is try to break this run as soon as possible – against Hull [West Brom's next opponents]."
