A bus belonging to the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners, Ibadan South West Local Government, Oyo State, was found in the forest at Soka. The bus had two phone numbers inscribed on the door.
When our correspondent called one of the numbers, it was answered by Mr. Ismail Saheed, a former secretary of the association. He said the bus was towed by the Oyo State government during former Governor Alao Akala’s tenure.
“The bus was parked outside the association’s office along Oke-Ado Road, Ibadan, but was towed by the government. The man we met there told us to go to the environmental department at the Oyo State Secretariat.
“We went to the secretariat and met their boss who told us to bring N25,000. We told them that we were artistes and that we didn’t have money. The bus was given to us by one of the local government chairmen in Oyo State.
“We appealed to them to collect N5,000 but they refused. We went there almost every day but it was fruitless. So we got fed up and abandoned the bus.”
Mr. Ogunkola Moses, former chairman of the association, whose number was also found on the bus corroborated Saheed’s story.
