Imo Poly Expels 26 Students, Suspends 22 Over Misconduct

The Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State has expelled 26 students and suspended 22 others for examination malpractices and other offences in the first semester of the 2012/2013 academic session.

A statement signed by the registrar of the institution, Mr. Mathew Aligbe, said that one of the affected students was asked to retake some courses while five were warned from further engagement in misconduct.

The registrar said that about 54 students appeared before a disciplinary panel set up by the management of the institution to investigate their alleged involvement in examination malpractice.

Aligbe maintained that the institution will not compromise its academic standard, adding that any student caught in the act of misconduct would be punished accordingly.
