Michael Shumacher may never wake up from his coma - Doctor

Michael Shumacher

Sad news it is from the Formula 1 world as seven times champion, Michael Shumacher may never wake up from his coma because of the severity of the injuries he sustained skiing accident.

Neurological expert Gereon Fink believes the fact Schumacher has been in a medically-induced coma for 18 days, following a skiing accident, is not a good sign for the former Formula One driver's future.

Patients placed in medically-induced comas are usually brought out of them after one to two weeks.

"If the injuries are so severe that it would harm the patient, he is kept longer in the medically induced coma," Fink said.

"Depending on where bleeding has taken place can lead to unilateral paralysis, speech disorders or personality changes."

Schumacher crashed while skiing in France on December 29 and has been treated in the French city of Grenoble since.
