Ekiti varsity graduates to get certificates on day of convocation – Vice Chancellor

The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Dipo Aina, said on Monday that henceforth, graduates of the university would get their certificates on the graduation day.
Mr. Aina, a professor, told a news conference in Ado-Ekiti that the new development would take effect from this year’s convocation ceremony scheduled for April 4.
He said it was unacceptable that a university established 32 years ago could still not issue certificates to its graduates on graduation day.
The vice-chancellor said that with the new development, the era of graduates getting their certificates five or 10 years after leaving school was gone.
He said the university had so far turned out more than 55, 000 graduates. He said that out of 5,859 graduates for this year’s convocation, 11 bagged first class degrees.
He said that the authorities of the university had built hostels for students and lecturers to encourage learning and good academic culture.
The vice chancellor said that the university had introduced exchange programmes with notable universities in the world.
He said that a total of 25 academic staff had been sent abroad to pursue their doctoral degrees under the exchange programmes.
