Former Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade (Rtd) on Tuesday said he rejected the outcome of Saturday’s PDP gubernatorial primary for Ekiti State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), recalls that Chief Ayo Fayose was declared winner of the primary after grossing 462 of the 477 valid votes cast.

Olubolade, in a statement in Ado Ekiti, called for immediate cancellation of the results.

The statement, signed by the Secretary of his campaign organisation, Mr Remi Osabusua, described the seven votes recorded for Olubolade at the primary as ridiculous.

The former minister accused the party’s national officers of deliberately manipulating the whole exercise in a way that would ultimately favour Fayose.

Olubolade was, however, silent on who ganged-up against him.

The statement said the former minister felt disappointed that a single aspirant like Fayose could be “allowed to steal the show” in an event where other contestants were not in attendance.

It alleged that all his delegates were shut out of the exercise and wondered where the seven votes allocated to him emanated from.

Olubolade insisted that he would have preferred consensus option as means of selecting the party’s gubernatorial candidate. (NAN)
