Dr. Bamanga Tukur has stepped down as the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, finally bowing to pressure from a faction of the ruling party.
The announcement was made by President Goodluck Jonathan,at the PDP National Executive Council meeting. He also said that Mr Tukur’s decision is based on mutual agreement.
Tukur, had earlier told Channels Television State House Correspondents that the rumour of his resignation was not true.
“I have not resigned. I am not somebody that would resign and you would not know. I have not resigned,” he said.
