The ongoing National Conference has been extended by six weeks.
According to a new work plan issued to various committees, the conference will now end on July 31 instead of the earlier June 19 which it was programmed to last.

A new work plan released by the leadership of the conference said the conference had been adjusted following inputs from its leadership.

According to the work plan obtained by THISDAY, July 21 to 24 had been devoted to consider draft reports of the conference.

Week 20, July 28 to 31 will be for production and signing of the final report.
No reason was given for the extension of the conference but some delegates, who spoke, hinted that: “We still have a lot of areas uncovered.” But others had earlier cautioned that the leadership of the conference should avoid the temptation of extending the conference.

Those who were against extending the conference feared that extension would likely to eat into the 2015 general election.
